Like Florian Wirtz, the bulk of Ekitike’s transfer bonus is based on Liverpool’s title success and the player’s individual performances.

The 23-year-old has passed his medical and agreed personal terms.

Ekitike will travel with Liverpool on their pre-season tour of Asia this week.

They previously signed Wirtz for a British record £116 million. While Jeremy Frimpong and Milos Kerkez cost a combined £70 million.

Newcastle had a £70 million bid for Ekitike rejected by the German club this month. While Liverpool have also shown interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Ekitike scored 15 goals in 31 starts and provided eight assists as Frankfurt finished third in the Bundesliga last season.

Only five players had a better goalscoring record in the German top flight last season, and none had more shots on goal than his 117.

In all competitions, Ekitike has scored 22 goals in 48 appearances for Frankfurt in the 2024-25 season.
