Roma’s Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers will need surgery after suffering an ankle injury in Sunday’s Serie A draw with Genoa.
Saelemaekers joined Roma on loan from AC Milan for the 2024-25 season, swapping places with Tammy Abraham on the final day of the summer transfer window, with the Belgian winger starting two games and coming on as a substitute in two.

Italian outlet Ufabet dello Sport reports that Saelemaekers underwent tests in Rome on Monday and was diagnose with an ankle problem that will require surgery and could take at least two months to recover.
Saelemaekers is report set to travel to Promotion Ufabet Belgium for surgery and recover before returning to his Rome rehabilitation programme.
Meanwhile, Roma coach Daniele De Rossi may have to recall Polish winger Nikola Zalewski to the first-team squad after he was dropp for refusing a move to Galatasaray last week.
Furthermore, the club adds, the midfielder will undergo surgery tomorrow to speed up the process.
In any case, Saelemaekers will remain out of action for a month and then resume with re-athletic training.
